Our Mission
is to protect Pagosa's wildlife corridors,
open spaces, and dark skies through
community-led conservation
that envisions a thriving Pagosa
where nature, people, and progress
coexist in balance.
Pagosa Springs Friends of the Wild (PSFOTW) unites residents, landowners, and conservation partners in protecting critical habitat and fostering environmental literacy. Our founding initiative- the Pagosa Tree Farmers Campaign- funds the acquisition of land for an Urban Elk Migration Buffer Corridor through a Nature Eduation Park, ensuring wildlife, families, and the night sky continue to thrive together.

Pagosa Springs Friends of the Wild
is a community of neighbors
who chose to stand for the quiet things—
the elk moving at dawn,
the forests breathing in the dark,
the mountains holding our stories,
and the night skies that have watched over this valley for generations.
We are a community conservatorship rooted in the belief that we protect what protects us, and that the land and wildlife—though they cannot speak—are always telling us what they need. Our work is to listen. To respond. And to safeguard the places that make Pagosa feel like home.
We bring residents, landowners, and conservation partners together to care for the wild corridors, forests, open spaces, and starlit nights that define the Pagosa country. Through practical stewardship, honest collaboration, and community-led action, we preserve the balance between people and place—ensuring that the land thrives, the wildlife endures, and the beauty we love is passed forward to those who come after us.
Together, we can Keep Pagosa WIld.

This campaign rallies our community around the quiet places and living beings who depend on us most. We turn awareness into action, protecting the forests, the migration routes, and the night sky above us.

They called us Tree Farmers and it planted a seed: some of us are not quite man nor mountain but something in between… now we're calling on our Friends to keep Our Colorado Green!

The Forever Forests Endowment Fund is the foundation that keeps Pagosa wild for generations. Gifts to this fund stay invested, creating a permanent source of support for
conservation.
It’s how we protect what protects us — forever.

For those who have lived in Pagosa for decades or just days, this is where our legacy begins...

This campaign powers our outreach, education, stewardship, and day-to-day operations so we can keep showing up for the land and the community.

Your contribution directly supports the purchase or partnership acquisition of key parcels within the proposed Pagosa West development. These lands will form the foundation of an urban wildlife migration buffer corridor and the future public Nature Park.

This is where legacy takes root. Your contribution becomes part of a lasting fund that safeguards our forests, wildlife corridors, and open spaces in perpetuity.
We love our Friends, so feel free to reach out to us to schedule a meeting or chat!
