Our Purpose

Pagosa Springs Friends of the Wild (PSFOTW) unites residents, landowners, and conservation partners in protecting critical habitat and fostering environmental literacy. Our founding initiative- the Pagosa Tree Farmers Campaign- funds the acquisition of land for an Urban Elk Migration Buffer Corridor through a Nature Eduation Park, ensuring wildlife, families, and the night sky continue to thrive together.

We Protect What Protects Us.

Friends of the Wild are stewards for the wildlife and the land in Pagosa country.

Pagosa Springs Friends of the Wild

is a community of neighbors

who chose to stand for the quiet things—
the elk moving at dawn,
the forests breathing in the dark,
the mountains holding our stories,
and the night skies that have watched over this valley for generations.

We are a community conservatorship rooted in the belief that we protect what protects us, and that the land and wildlife—though they cannot speak—are always telling us what they need. Our work is to listen. To respond. And to safeguard the places that make Pagosa feel like home.

We bring residents, landowners, and conservation partners together to care for the wild corridors, forests, open spaces, and starlit nights that define the Pagosa country. Through practical stewardship, honest collaboration, and community-led action, we preserve the balance between people and place—ensuring that the land thrives, the wildlife endures, and the beauty we love is passed forward to those who come after us.

Together, we can Keep Pagosa WIld.
